Microwave popcorn: a double-edged pleasure
Easy and quick to prepare, microwave popcorn should nevertheless be consumed with caution. Its bag contains perfluoroalkyls, chemical substances that can migrate into food under the effect of heat. Some studies have established a link between these compounds and increased risks of liver and pancreatic cancers. Opt for a homemade version with popcorn and a little oil.
Mold and mycotoxins: an invisible danger on your plate
Some everyday foods may contain mycotoxins, toxic substances produced by mold that are invisible to the naked eye. Present in cereals, dried fruits, coffee, or even poorly preserved spices, these toxins are known for their carcinogenic effects and can weaken the immune system. Aflatoxin, for example, is one of the most dangerous and develops mainly in products stored in a hot and humid environment. To limit the risks, choose well-preserved foods, avoid those with traces of mold and opt for certified quality sources.
