Driving with a foggy windshield is not only frustrating but also hazardous. Fog forms when there’s a temperature difference between the inside and outside of your car, causing moisture to condense on the glass. To help you stay safe on the road, here are 12 effective ways to clear and prevent fog from forming on your windshield.
1. Use Your Defroster
Turn on your car’s defroster to blow warm air onto the windshield. Gradually increase the temperature to balance the moisture levels inside the car. If your car has a rear defroster, use that as well for the rear window.
2. Adjust Your AC Settings
Running your air conditioner helps reduce the humidity inside your car. Switch the AC on with a moderate temperature to dehumidify the air and eliminate fog faster.
3. Crack Open a Window
Opening a window slightly allows the humid air inside the car to escape. This method equalizes the temperature and minimizes condensation on the windshield.
4. Use a Clean Cloth or Anti-Fog Wipes
Keep a microfiber cloth or anti-fog wipes in your car to quickly clear the fog manually. Avoid using paper towels, as they can leave streaks or lint.
5. Apply Shaving Cream
Shaving cream contains ingredients that prevent fogging. Apply a small amount to the inside of the windshield, spread it evenly, and then wipe it off with a clean cloth.
