Cheney was among the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump on charges related to the January 6 Capitol attack, a move that led to a fierce backlash from Trump and his supporters. She was subsequently ousted from her role as the number-three House GOP leader and lost her primary race in Wyoming to a Trump-backed candidate in 2022.
Cheney, who has been vocal about defending democratic processes and prioritizing the country over party allegiance, served on the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack. Despite earlier resistance to aligning with Democrats, Cheney has now endorsed Harris, contrasting sharply with other anti-Trump Republicans who have engaged more directly with the Biden campaign.
