23-Year-Old Black Nursing Student Stabbed to Death Days Before Her Graduation

Nationwide — Tamilore Odunsi, a 23-year-old British nursing student who had moved to Houston, Texas, to pursue her degree, was tragically stabbed to death just days before she was set to graduate. Known online for her uplifting TikTok videos and study advice, Odunsi had been counting down the days to her commencement ceremony. Her final post expressed excitement for the future, unaware of the tragedy that was about to unfold.

Houston police responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex in southeast Houston around 3:50 p.m. after a friend of Odunsi’s father contacted authorities, concerned that the family had been unable to reach her. After knocking and receiving no response, officers noticed blood on the back patio and forced entry into the apartment. Inside, they found Odunsi deceased on the kitchen floor, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

A man later identified by media reports as Odunsi’s roommate was also found inside the apartment, suffering from at least one stab wound. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police have not released his identity, and no suspects have been publicly named. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to the violent incident.

Odunsi, known on TikTok as @tamidollars, had amassed more than 30,000 followers by sharing relatable content about her life as an international student. Her videos often included study tips, personal reflections, and insights into her experience as a British woman attending nursing school in the United States. Her final video, posted on April 21, captured her excitement as she celebrated her 23rd birthday and her upcoming graduation.

A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to help cover funeral expenses and the cost of transporting Odunsi’s body back to her family in the United Kingdom. The fundraiser describes her as “a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” and notes that she moved to the U.S. to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She was especially passionate about working with children and hoped to dedicate her career to making a positive impact on young lives.

The campaign also highlights Odunsi’s joyful spirit beyond her academic achievements, honoring her love of content creation and her ability to brighten the lives of those around her. What was meant to be a season of celebration has instead become a time of profound grief, as her loved ones mourn a life taken far too soon.
