1. Plug in your phone under your pillow or on soft surfaces

One of the most popular—and dangerous mistakes is charging your phone while it’s under your pillow or on your bed. This habit prevents proper heat dissipation, which can cause extreme battery overheating.

Tip: Always plug in your phone on a firm, flat, and ventilated surface. Never cover it while it’s charged.

2. Use non-original or low-quality chargers

Generic or unknown brand chargers may not have the necessary protections against short circuits, overloads, or overheating. These devices can destr0y the battery, create sparks, or even cause fires.

Tip: Always use certified chargers and, if possible, those recommended by your phone’s manufacturer. The price difference is worth the safety.

3. Continue using your phone while it is charging and it gets hot

Talking, playing games, or watching videos while charging can produce additional heat. If your phone is already overheated and you continue to apply it, you increase the risk of permanent battery damage or, in the worst case, explosion.

Tip: If you spot your phone getting too hot while charging, let it rest. Avoid using it until it cools down.

Do not neglect the device’s war:ning signs

Often, the phone itself war:ns us that something is wrong: it heats up more than usual, it refreshs on its own, the battery swells, or it starts to radiate a strange smell. Neglecting these signs can be a big mistake, as they imply a possible internal fault that could cause a serious accident.

If you spot any strange behavior on your phone, turn it off promptly and meet a qualified technician. Don’t go on using it as if nothing is wrong.
