5. Frequent infections or slow-healing wounds
Diabetes weakens the immune response. If you get sick more often, suffer from recurring urinary tract infections, or if your small cuts heal abnormally slowly, hidden high blood sugar could be the cause. Bacteria and fungi thrive in “sugar” blood.
6. Normal weight but large waistline
Even if your BMI is in the “healthy” range, abdominal fat is a major risk factor. Visceral fat—the fat surrounding your organs—is far more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. A waist measurement greater than 88 cm for women or 102 cm for men should not be ignored, even if the scale reads “normal.”
