You open the washing machine door, ready to dive into your freshly washed laundry… and then, disappointment. Nothing. Not even the slightest hint of cleanliness. Even worse: a slightly musty smell or a slightly overpowering synthetic scent. But why doesn’t your laundry smell fresh? Between detergent residue, a poorly maintained washing machine, or poor washing habits, several factors could be responsible. Too much detergent, too little rinse… common mistakes
We often think that adding “a little more” detergent or fabric softener will improve the smell of our laundry. But it’s just the opposite. Excess detergent collects in the fabric fibers instead of being properly rinsed out. As a result, the laundry retains residue and develops an unpleasant odor over time.
Another common mistake: washing too often at low temperatures. 30°C cycles are ideal for delicate fabrics, but they are not enough to eliminate bacteria and mold. Little by little, these microorganisms settle in the drum… and on your clothes.
Finally, a poorly maintained washing machine quickly becomes a breeding ground for unpleasant odors. A dirty door seal, a detergent drawer that is never cleaned, a constantly damp drum… all these factors affect the freshness of your laundry.
