Yolk Dough and Meringue Cake

Ingredients:

For the Yolk Dough:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk (or as needed for dough consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For the Meringue Layer:

  • 6 large egg whites
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (optional, for stability)

Optional Additions:

  • 1/2 cup jam or preserves (apricot, raspberry, or your favorite flavor)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a rectangular baking pan (9×13 inches) with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugaruntil pale and creamy.
