Make your own hot honey with 5 simple ingredients. Add some sweet heat and drizzle it on pizza, fried chicken, veggies, and more!
With just 5 ingredients and 5 minutes of simmering, you’ll have a delicious hot honey that’s perfect for drizzling on everything from pizza to fried chicken. We add a little apple cider vinegar to bring out the tang that goes perfectly with the sweetness of the honey and heat of the hot sauce. You can even experiment with different hot sauces to play with the flavor profiles and heat level to find your perfect combination. Before you know it you’ll be looking for an excuse to drizzle hot honey on everything!
If you haven’t experienced the game-changer that is hot honey yet, then boy are you in for a treat! Drizzle it over roasted veggies, add it to your cheese boards, or mix it into marinades for a sweet and spicy kick. You can stash it in the pantry and have it ready to go anytime you need a little extra flavor. Trust me, once you try this, even the store-bought hot honey won’t cut it anymore!
Ingredient Notes
Honey: Use any honey you have on hand. Ideally you’ll want to use a neutral honey like a generic clover or wildflower honey.
Crushed Red Pepper Flakes: These are the first layer of heat. f you want a milder version, feel free to use a little less.
Apple Cider Vinegar: This adds the perfect tang to balance out the sweetness.
Hot Sauce: This is where you can get creative! Frank’s, Cholula, or Valentina are good standard options to start. Feel free to use your favorite hot sauce and experiment with one of the many amazing and sometimes creative options out there!
Cayenne Pepper: The final layer of heat.
