Instructions:

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is activated.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture along with the olive oil.
  3. Knead the Dough: Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Transfer it back to a floured surface and shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller portions for rolls.
  6. Second Rise: Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Cover it again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it has puffed up.
  7. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.
  8. Bake: Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes for a loaf, or 15-20 minutes for rolls, until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
