If you encounter someone who appears to be having a heart attack and is unconscious:

  • Call the emergency services    : Call for help immediately.
  • Begin CPR    : If the victim is not breathing, begin CPR. Give firm, rapid chest compressions at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
  • If you have access to a defibrillator, use it    : If there is an automated external defibrillator (AED) nearby, use it as soon as possible.

📌Understand your risk of heart attack

The likelihood of having a heart attack may be increased by certain factors:

  • Age    : Men over 45 and women over 55 are at increased risk.
  • Lifestyle factors    : smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and lack of exercise are factors that influence the occurrence of this disease.
  • Family history    : A family history of heart disease can also increase your risk of developing the disease.

🌱Prevents heart attacks

While you can’t control everything, you can take some steps to reduce your risk:

  • Eat a healthy diet    : focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.
  • Regular exercise    : Aim for at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercise.
  • Stress management    : Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as meditation or yoga.
  • Regular checkups    : Attend regular doctor visits to monitor the health of your heart.
