I was just going to post this recipe when I found yours. These are fabulous, I have been making them for years and everyone loves them

I love onion rings. But thereā€™s no way Iā€™m going to make them at home. I donā€™t deep fry anything here. And the idea of dunking all those onions just tires me out. Thatā€™s where these onion fritters rock! All the taste of an onion ring in a simple to make a little pancake.

These were wonderful! I was browsing your page and saw your cookbook of Amish and Mennonite recipes. Looked through it and saw this one -I am an onion lover! I suggested to my DH that maybe a bit of fresh ground pepper would be nice and his words were ā€œDonā€™t you change a thing -theyā€™re perfect!ā€ And they are so easy to make. There you go. Next, I am going to try your Cabbage Casserole -cabbage is one of our favorite veggies. If it is nearly as good as your Onion Patties, weā€™ll both be in Heaven.

Thatā€™s right, these taste just like onion rings. So good! And you can make them ahead and serve them when youā€™re ready. Just keep them in a low oven (like 200 degrees F) for up to an hour. Though I do like them best when they are hot out of the skillet.

All the taste of an onion ring in a simple to make little fritter (pancake). These are great as a side dish or as a fancy appetizer!

Ingredients :Ā 

3/4 c flour
1Ā Tbsp sugar
1Ā Tbsp cornmeal
2Ā tsp baking powder
1-2Ā tsp salt-according to taste
3/4Ā c milk
2 1/2Ā c chopped onions
oil for frying

 

HOW TO MAKE IT :Ā 

Ingredients :Ā 

3/4 c flour
1Ā Tbsp sugar
1Ā Tbsp cornmeal
2Ā tsp baking powder
1-2Ā tsp salt-according to taste
3/4Ā c milk
2 1/2Ā c chopped onions
oil for frying

Directions :Ā 

1.Ā Mix together dry ingredients.
2.Ā add milk and stir.
3.Ā batter will be thick.
4.Ā add onions and mix throughly.
5.Ā heat 1/2 inch oil in skillet over medium high heat.
6.Ā drop batter by tablespoons in hot oil, flatten slightly, brown on both sides until nice and crisp.
7.Ā drain on paper towels.
8.Ā serve warm.
