Apple Pie Biscuits

Instructions

1. Prep the Pan and Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Generously brush a 10-inch cast iron skillet or an 8×8 inch baking dish with some of the melted butter, coating the bottom and sides.

2. Create the Spiced Sugar Coating:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

3. Assemble the Biscuits:
Dip each biscuit first into the melted butter, allowing the excess to drip off, then roll it in the spiced sugar mixture until evenly coated. Arrange the coated biscuits snugly in the prepared skillet.

4. Add the Apple Filling:
Spoon the apple pie filling evenly over the tops of the biscuits, letting it nestle into the spaces between them. For extra crunch, sprinkle with chopped nuts. Drizzle any remaining melted butter over the top.

5. Bake to Perfection:
Bake for 32-35 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed, cooked through, and have a beautiful golden-brown crust.

6. Glaze and Serve:
While the biscuits bake, whisk the powdered sugar and cream together until smooth to create a simple glaze. As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the top while they’re still hot. Serve warm.

Chef’s Notes & Variations
From-Scratch Glory: For a fully homemade version, use your favorite buttermilk biscuit dough and simmer your own filling with fresh, diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Indulgent Dessert: Transform this into a decadent dessert by serving a warm biscuit in a bowl topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Storage: These are best enjoyed the day they are made. Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to restore their crispness.

Make it Your Own: Feel free to swap the apple filling for peach or cherry pie filling depending on the season. A pinch of cardamom added to the sugar mix also offers a lovely, warm complexity.
