Instructions:
- Prepare the Ham: a. If the ham has a rind, carefully remove it, leaving a thin layer of fat. b. Score the fat in a diamond pattern using a sharp knife.
- Place Ham in the Crock Pot: Place the ham in the slow cooker, flat side down.
- Make the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, pineapple juice, maple syrup, and Dijon mustard until well combined.
- Apply the Glaze: Pour half of the glaze over the ham, ensuring it gets into the scored lines. Reserve the other half for later.
- Add Cloves (Optional): If using whole cloves, press them into the scored intersections on the fat.
- Cook in the Crock Pot: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the ham is heated through.
- Baste with Glaze: Every hour, baste the ham with the remaining glaze from the bowl.
- Garnish: About 30 minutes before serving, arrange pineapple slices and maraschino cherries on top of the ham for a decorative touch.
- Slice and Serve: Once cooked, transfer the ham to a serving platter. Slice and serve with the accumulated juices.
Note: If you prefer a caramelized finish, you can transfer the ham to a baking dish after cooking in the crockpot and broil for a few minutes, watching closely to achieve the desired glaze.
