Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Layer Hash Browns: Spread the thawed and squeezed hash browns evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Make Sausage Gravy: In a large skillet, combine cooked sausage, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and chopped onion. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until heated through and slightly thickened.
Assemble Casserole: Pour the sausage gravy over the hash browns. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
