BLACK FOREST CAKE

Once the cake layers are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate.
Spread a generous layer of cherry pie filling on top of the first cake layer.
Place the second cake layer on top of the cherry filling.
Frost the entire cake with the whipped cream frosting, covering the top and sides.
If desired, garnish the cake with chocolate shavings or curls and maraschino cherries.
Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Slice and serve your delicious homemade Black Forest Cake!
Note: You can customize the cake by adding a splash of cherry liqueur to the cherry filling for an authentic touch.
