Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Sugar (if using)
- Add in the olive oil and warm water (or milk). Mix until a sticky dough forms. Do not overmix—just enough to bring it together.
- Lightly flour your hands and shape the dough into a round or oval loaf, or press it into a small oven-safe skillet or pan.
- Score the top with a sharp knife (a cross or a few slashes help it bake evenly).
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and firm on the outside. Tap the bottom—if it sounds hollow, it’s done.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Variations:
- Cheesy Garlic Bread: Add ½ cup shredded cheese + 1 tsp garlic powder
- Herbed Bread: Add 1 tsp each dried rosemary, oregano, and thyme
- Sweet Bread: Add 1 tbsp honey and a dash of cinnamon
