Federline had previously spoken out about his son’s relationship with their mother following the termination of her conservatorship in 2021, which saw her father, Jamie Spears, assume control over her life and finances – a decision he claimed ‘saved her life’.

Federline told ITV in 2022 that Sean Preston and Jayden James had decided not to see their mother, saying: „The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now.”
He described the situation as ‘tough’ and ‘the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life’.
