1. Cook the Bacon
Fry bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, or bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12–15 minutes on a lined baking sheet.
Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
2. Toast the Bread
Toast both slices until golden brown.
Spread each slice generously with mayonnaise.
3. Assemble the Sandwich
Layer lettuce onto one slice of bread (this helps protect the bread from tomato juices).
Add tomato slices; sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper to enhance their flavor.
Add bacon in an even layer.
Top with the remaining slice of bread.
4. Slice and Serve
Cut diagonally for the classic presentation. Serve immediately while the bacon is still warm and the toast is crisp.
Tips for the Best BLT
Use high-quality tomatoes—heirloom or vine-ripened varieties work beautifully.
Try flavored mayo like garlic, lemon, or chipotle for a fun twist.
Upgrade the bread with sourdough, artisan white, or even toasted brioche.
Add avocado for a creamy California-style BLT.
Keep the bacon crisp—overlapping pieces stay crunchier.
