Steps to Make Oregano Oil:

- Harvest and Prepare the Oregano: Begin by harvesting fresh oregano. Youβll need a good handful of leaves, which should be washed and dried completely to remove any moisture.
- Bruise the Leaves: To release the oils from the oregano leaves, gently bruise them with a mortar and pestle or simply crush them in your hands.
- Heat the Carrier Oil: Pour your chosen carrier oil into a small saucepan and warm it gently on low heat. You do not want the oil to simmer or boil, just to become warm to the touch.
- Infuse the Oil: Add the bruised oregano leaves to the warm carrier oil. Stir gently to combine. Allow the mixture to heat on low for about 5 to 10 minutes, then turn off the heat.
- Let It Steep: Cover the saucepan and let the mixture steep for at least one to two hours, or even longer if possible. The longer it steeps, the stronger the infusion will be.
- Strain and Store: Once the oil has steeped to your satisfaction, strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean jar. Make sure to press or squeeze the leaves to extract as much oil as possible.
- Bottle It Up: Transfer the strained oil into a clean bottle, preferably dark glass to protect it from light. Seal the bottle tightly.
