Ingredients:
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Cooking spray
FOR THE DIPPING SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional for a lighter option)
Instructions:
STEP 1: PREPARE THE APPLES
- Peel the apples (optional) and slice them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick. Remove the core and seeds.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
STEP 2: SET UP THE BREADING STATION
- Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and panko breadcrumbs in a third.
- Add half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture to the breadcrumbs and mix well.
STEP 3: COAT THE APPLE SLICES
- Dredge each apple slice in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip it into the egg, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Press it into the breadcrumb mixture, coating evenly. Repeat for all apple slices.
