According to Dr. Mohammed Imran Lakhi, Director and Chief Pharmacist, Nimbus patients often also exhibit the following symptoms:
- Constant fatigue
- Mild cough
- Fever
- Muscle pain
- Stuffy nose
More contagious, but not more severe
Despite the rapid spread, the World Health Organization (WHO) reassures that current data does not show that “Nimbus” causes a more severe course of the disease.
“Currently approved COVID-19 vaccines are expected to remain effective against this variant, both in symptomatic and severe cases,” a WHO spokesperson said. The WHO noted that while there has been an increase in cases and hospitalizations in some countries where the strain is widespread, this is not associated with a higher severity of the disease.
