A Special Connection
While visiting animal shelters in South Carolina, Lauren came across a very special dog. Among the many dogs, one stood out—a one-eyed puppy named Victoria, who had been abandoned and was clearly frightened. Lauren felt an immediate connection with Victoria and knew she had to bring her home.
From the moment they met, Lauren and Victoria formed a unique bond. “She senses when I’m upset or stressed,” Lauren told PEOPLE. The dog’s sensitivity would prove to be crucial.
A Strange Behavior
Not long after Victoria joined Lauren’s family, she began to act strangely around her. The dog would consistently sniff a particular spot on Lauren’s nose. This wasn’t a typical behavior, and Victoria’s persistence made Lauren pay attention.
There was a small red bump on Lauren’s nose, and Victoria’s constant sniffing around the area raised concerns. Initially, Lauren thought little of it, but she decided to get the bump checked out by a doctor just to be safe. The eventual diagnosis was shocking.
