Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add the Eggs and Vanilla:
Mix in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Add the vanilla extract and blend well.
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender.
Fold in Add-ins:
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) with a spatula or spoon.
Shape the Cookies:
Use a cookie scoop or spoon to place mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still look soft but will firm up as they cool.
Cool:
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy.
