Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. SautΓ© diced onions for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef to the saucepan. Cook and brown the beef while breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and reduce heat to low. Let the mixture simmer.
  4. Add chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Stir well until fully combined.
  5. Let the chili simmer uncovered for about an hour over low heat, stirring occasionally. If it thickens too much, add additional beef broth to adjust the consistency.
  6. After 30 minutes of simmering, stir in the kidney beans and pinto beans. Allow the flavors to meld together.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot with optional garnishes and accompaniments of your choice.
