. 2 lbs beef stew meat (chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes)
. 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
. 4 large carrots, peeled and sliced
. 1 onion, chopped
. 3 cloves garlic, minced
. 2 cups beef broth
. 1 cup red wine (optional)
. 2 tbsp tomato paste
. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
. 1 tsp dried thyme
. 1 tsp dried rosemary
. 1 bay leaf
. Salt and pepper to taste
. 2 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)
