Ex-Raiders Star Barret Robbins Dead at 52

Former Raiders All-Pro center Barret Robbins has passed away at the age of 52. His teammate Tim Brown shared that Robbins died peacefully in his sleep.

Brown, who played alongside Robbins from 1998 to 2003, said he received the news from Marissa Robbins, who informed him that Barret had passed overnight.

Brown asked for prayers for Robbins’ daughters, family, and teammates affected by the loss. He also referenced the incident the day before Super Bowl XXXVII, when Robbins went missing after reportedly not taking his depression medication, resurfacing later that night disoriented. Robbins was suspended for the Super Bowl, as then-coach Bill Callahan deemed him unfit to play. Brown noted that Robbins’ life “was never the same” after that event.

Robbins began his football career at TCU and was selected by the Raiders in the 2nd round of the 1995 NFL Draft. He played nine seasons in the NFL, with his best year coming in 2002, when he made the Pro Bowl and was named a 1st team All-Pro.
