Found a gun in a creek 2 days ago (does anyone know what model it may be or how long it appears to have been there)

Two days ago, I was out by a nearby creek just enjoying the quiet when I noticed something half-buried under the water. At first, I thought it was a piece of metal or some scrap — but as I pulled it up, I realized… it was a gun.

Rusty. Clogged. Covered in muck.
It looked like it had been sitting there for years — completely corroded, but still undeniably a firearm.

💬 Reactions Online

I posted about it to ask if anyone could identify the model or estimate how long it might’ve been there. The responses were wild:

“Report it — if it’s there, it’s probably there for a reason.”

“That’s been there for a lot of years to be in that condition.”

“Could do with posting a better image of it 😂”

And then, of course, one that made me laugh (and shiver a bit):

“If you don’t know, there are nearly always free guns under bridges going over water.”

🕵️ What Now?

I’ve heard enough stories to know that finding a gun in a creek isn’t something to just brush off.
Whether it’s an old relic or something dumped after a crime, it’s best to let the authorities deal with it.

If you ever come across something similar:

  1. Don’t touch it more than necessary.

  2. Take clear photos of where and how you found it.

  3. Contact local police immediately.

  4. Stay safe — it’s not worth the risk of handling unknown firearms.

💭 The Mystery

What really gets me is the story behind it.
How long has it been there? Who put it there? And why?

It’s the kind of discovery that makes you think about how many hidden stories are lying just beneath the surface — literally.
