The leaves, bark, and roots of the Maclura pomifera tree have all been used in traditional medicine to cure a variety of ailments. It is thought that these treatments have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities. The safety and efficacy of these treatments are questionable, and there is no scientific evidence to back up these assertions.

Apples with a hedgerow might draw wildlife. When food is scarce, animals such as deer and squirrels may consume them. Planting hedge apples in your yard might allow you get up close and personal with wildlife if you love viewing it.
