Ingredients
2 pounds beef chuck roast
2 large onions, thinly sliced
1 packet (about 1 oz) of French onion soup mix
Directions
Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Lay the beef chuck roast on top of the onions.
Sprinkle the French onion soup mix evenly over the beef.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Once cooked, shred the beef using two forks and mix it with the onions and juices in the slow cooker.
Serve hot with your choice of sides.
Variations & Tips
For a richer flavor, you can sear the beef in a hot skillet before placing it in the slow cooker. This adds a lovely caramelization that enhances the overall taste. If you prefer a thicker sauce, consider adding a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with water during the last hour of cooking. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce. Vegetables like carrots or mushrooms can be added for extra nutrition and flavor.
