Decorations (Optional):

  • Edible glitter
  • Glow-in-the-dark sprinkles
  • Drizzle of glow-in-the-dark icing for extra effect

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking dish
  • Spatula
  • Piping bag for frosting
  • Blacklight (to make the glow effect pop!)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, vanilla, salt, and egg. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Filling

  1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  3. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Step 3: Roll and Bake

  1. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  2. Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
  3. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 4: Prepare the Glow-in-the-Dark Frosting

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well.
  3. Add tonic water and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until smooth. (The quinine in the tonic water is what makes it glow under a blacklight!)
  4. If desired, mix in neon food coloring to enhance the glowing effect.

Step 5: Decorate and Serve

  1. Drizzle or pipe the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.
  2. Add edible glitter or glow-in-the-dark sprinkles for extra magic.
  3. Turn on the blacklight and watch your cinnamon rolls glow!
