Grandma’s Capirotada Recipe

Ingredients

1.8 dl water,
3 piloncillo cones (see tip for alternatives),
3 Mexican cinnamon sticks,
3 whole cloves,
2.4 dl raisins
, 1.2 dl roasted and salted peanuts,
12 thick slices of bolillo or French bread (about 0.6 cm thick; see note for alternatives),
5 dl grated Monterey Jack cheese.
