Grandma’s Secret Weapon: Banishing Set-In Grease Stains from Laundry (It’s Easier Than You Think!)

This is perhaps the most important step for set-in stains. Do NOT put the item in the dryer!

  • Air Dry Only: After the wash cycle, immediately pull out the stained garment. Inspect the stain carefully in good light. If you see even the faintest hint of the grease stain, DO NOT proceed to the dryer.

  • Hang It Out: Hang the item on a clothesline, a drying rack, or even a hanger to air dry completely. The absence of heat ensures that any remaining oil doesn’t get permanently set into the fibers.

  • Repeat if Necessary: If, after air-drying, you still spot any remnants of the grease stain, don’t despair! Simply repeat the entire process from Step 1 (absorbent powder, dish soap, wash, and air dry) until the stain is completely gone. It might take a couple of rounds, but it’s worth it to save your favorite pieces!

Don’t let those pesky grease stains win the battle against your wardrobe! With these proven techniques, you’ll be able to tackle even the most stubborn spots and keep your clothes looking fresh.
