Grow Spider Plants in Hanging or Tabletop Containers

The Best Soil for Spider Plants
Spider plants do best in light, well-draining soil. A standard indoor potting mix works well, but you can also blend your own with:

2 parts potting soil

1 part perlite or pumice

1 part coconut coir or peat moss

This combination offers aeration, drainage, and enough moisture retention to keep your spider plant happy.

Lighting Conditions
Spider plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. A location near a window with filtered light is perfect. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may reduce growth and leaf coloration.

Hanging baskets near east- or north-facing windows work well, and tabletop pots can be placed on shelves that receive consistent light but are shielded from harsh rays.
