Preparation 🥣
– Prepare the potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices. Pre-cook them in lightly salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
– Sear the gyros meat: Heat the oil in a large pan. Sauté the onion rings and chopped garlic until translucent. Add the gyros meat and fry well until nicely browned. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
– Make the cream mixture: In a bowl, mix together the cream, milk, and the ready-made Hollandaise sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
– Layer the casserole: Grease a baking dish. Place a layer of potato slices on the bottom, followed by a layer of gyros meat. Continue layering until all ingredients are used. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the casserole.
– Top with cheese: Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the casserole. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) and bake for about 30–35 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and crispy.
– Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
