Sometimes it can be difficult to remove a sticker stuck to a surface without leaving any unsightly residue. In fact, stickers can be stubborn, especially on certain plastic, wood or glass supports, such as jars. The glue on stickers is very strong and it is often difficult to remove the sticker without leaving any traces. Even when you manage to remove the sticker on the first try, the glue remains on the support without disappearing.
You can try to remove the glue with a knife or other kitchen utensil, but you risk damaging or scratching the surface where the sticker was. Here are some tips to easily remove a sticker without leaving any residue.
How to remove glue from stickers without leaving any residue?
glued sticker
Removing a sticker from a glass or wooden surface, for example, can be quite difficult. Especially since if the sticker is on your clothes, the glue can melt into the fibers of the fabric and make the task even more difficult. But we have found some tricks to remove a sticker quickly and without leaving any residue.
Use a plastic scraper to remove your stickers
Plastic card
You can try to remove a sticker without leaving any residue with a plastic scraper or a plastic card such as an old credit card or gift card. Short of metal kitchen utensils, plastic will not scratch the backing the sticker or adhesive label is on.
Remove glue residue from your stickers with warm, soapy water.
Hot water
Hot water can work wonders on some stubborn stickers. The heat will melt the glue and you will only have to remove the adhesive without leaving a glue stain. Fill a bowl or basin with hot water and a few drops of dish soap. Next, immerse the bowl in water and let it soak in the water and dishwashing liquid mixture, until the sticker softens. Remove the sticker with your fingers or a plastic scraper to scrape off the glue and remove all glue residue.
Use a hair dryer to effectively remove your stickers
You probably have a hair dryer handy or in your bathroom. To easily remove your self-adhesive labels, take your hair dryer and turn it on to the highest temperature. Then point it at the sticker to melt the glue. When the latter is completely melted, peel the self-adhesive label off the surface and you will have no glue residue left.
Try peeling off the stickers with isopropyl alcohol or vodka.
Dampen a paper towel or microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol or vodka and rub the sticker to remove the glue. If your adhesive is very resistant, do not hesitate to leave the cloth soaked in alcohol on the sticker for a few minutes. Then use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the surface and remove any glue residue.
