1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4-6 tablespoons hot water
Directions:
Preparing the Dough:
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, melted butter, and 2 cups of flour. Beat until the mixture is smooth.
Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it once to grease the top. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
Shaping the Doughnuts:
Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll it out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch.
Using a floured doughnut cutter, cut out doughnuts and place them on greased baking sheets. Cover and let them rise again until doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.
Frying the Doughnuts:
Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375°F.
Carefully fry the doughnuts a few at a time until they turn golden brown on both sides.
Once fried, drain the doughnuts on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Glazing:
In a bowl, combine the melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water until smooth.
Dip the warm doughnuts into the glaze, ensuring they are evenly coated, and then let them dry on wire racks.
