1 egg
2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
For Assembly:
12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Minced Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet or saucepan, brown the ground beef or ground turkey over medium heat until cooked through.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.
2. Make the Cheese Filling:
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and pepper.
Mix until well combined and set aside.
3. Assemble the Lasagna:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread a thin layer of the minced meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Arrange 4 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them.
Spread half of the cheese filling over the noodles, followed by a layer of minced meat sauce.
Repeat the layers with 4 more lasagna noodles, the remaining cheese filling, and another layer of minced meat sauce.
Top the lasagna with the remaining 4 lasagna noodles and cover them with the remaining minced meat sauce.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the lasagna.
4. Bake the Lasagna:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
5. Serve and Enjoy:
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
