How To Make Homemade Turtle Candy With Pecans and Caramel
Prepare the Pecan Base
Place the pecan halves flat side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Separate them into sets of four and form them into cross or “X” shapes.
Leave some space between each set—these will be the base for your turtle candies.
Melt the Caramel
Unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl.
Add a tablespoon of water to the bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
Add Caramel to Pecans
Use a spoon to generously spoon the caramel mixture over the center of each group of pecans.
Melt the Chocolate
Add the chocolate chips to a separate microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth.
Top with Chocolate
Spoon the melted chocolate over the caramel on each candy.
Set and Serve
Place the turtle candies in the freezer to set for at least 30 minutes.
Once set, remove and enjoy!
