Preparation method:
Daily trash cleaning – Empty your trash can regularly, then wash it with soap and water. Use a sponge or soft cloth to remove any organic debris that may attract worms.
Vinegar as a natural repellent – Mix 1:1 water and vinegar and wipe the inside of the trash can with it. Vinegar acts as a natural repellent against many insects.
Baking soda paste – If you’re dealing with tougher stains, apply a paste of baking soda and water, then thoroughly clean the inside of the trash can. The soda will also help neutralize unpleasant odors.
Using essential oils – Add a few drops of essential oil (e.g., eucalyptus or peppermint) to the water you’ll use to clean the bin. You can also place a small cotton ball soaked in the oil inside the bin – this will help repel insects.
Serving and storage tips:
Make sure your trash bags are tightly closed – Use bags that seal properly. This will effectively prevent the spread of worms and other insects in the bin.
Use containers with lids – A trash can with a lid is much more effective at keeping insects out.
