Ingredients:
β1 cup butter, softened
β2 cups sugar
β4 large eggs, room temperature
β2 teaspoons vanilla extract
β3 cups all-purpose flour
β1 teaspoon baking powder
β1/2 teaspoon baking soda
β1/2 teaspoon salt
β1 cup buttermilk
Butter Sauce:
β1 cup sugar
β1/2 cup butter, cubed
β1/4 cup water
β1-1/2 teaspoons almond extract
β1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
