Lay a clean towel on a horizontal surface.
Place the garment on top and roll the towel with the garment inside.
Repeat with a dry towel each time, gradually stretching the fabric.
For a deeper softening, another method is to use baking soda and white vinegar.
Mix 20 grams of baking soda with one liter of hot water and pour this solution into a basin filled with lukewarm water.
Slowly immerse the garment and stretch it gently with your hands.
After an hour, rinse it with a mixture of one liter of water and 250 ml of white vinegar.
Leave to dry flat, away from heat sources.
One last tip is to use a mixture of white vinegar and hair mask.
In a container, mix 125 ml of white vinegar with 50 ml of hair mask.
Immerse the garment and let it soak for half an hour.
Stretch it out slightly, then let it soak for another hour before rinsing it with cold water.
Dry it flat in the shade.
With these methods, it is possible to recover a felted wool garment and avoid throwing it away. Careful maintenance and a few simple actions can extend the life of wool garments while restoring their softness and elasticity.
