Instructions:
Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Make the Cake:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt).
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Make the Milk Mixture: While the cake cools slightly, combine the whole milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl or measuring cup. Whisk well to combine.
Soak the Cake: Once the cake is done, poke holes all over the top using a fork or skewer. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to absorb the liquid. Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
Make the Whipped Cream: In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Assemble and Serve: Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake. Slice and serve chilled. Garnish with fresh berries or a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.
