I saw these in my garage today. I’m not sure if should be concerned. I haven’t taken them out yet since I want to know first.

“Found weird ‘eggs’ in my garage… should I freak out? 😳”

I was poking around in the garage today and stumbled on a pile of what looked like eggs — hard, deformed, oddly placed. My first thought: “What in the world?”

Then I remembered a trick from chicken-keepers — these might actually be decoy eggs (aka fake/ceramic “eggs”) used in hen coops. They’re placed in nesting boxes to tell hens where to lay, deter egg-eating, or train new layers.

So yeah — chances are they weren’t laid by some secret nest in your garage. They were likely put there (on purpose) to signal something.

Still: finding them randomly = weird.

🔍 Things to check:

  • Are they hollow, heavy or light? Real eggs feel different.

  • Are they cracked, chipped, or look “deformed”? Fake/decoy eggs often lack the perfect shape of real eggs.

  • Is there chicken coop gear nearby, or hens roaming around?

  • Was this space used for hens, or near where someone keeps poultry?

Bottom line: Probably not an alien clutch of eggs. But very likely someone set up a “nesting zone” or needed to redirect hen behaviour. Doesn’t mean all is normal though — always good to keep an eye on things.
