Despite the tragedy, Millie and Lewis decided to continue with the high-risk pregnancy, determined to cherish every moment they could with both their daughters. They chose meaningful names for their twins: Callie, who would go on to survive, and Skye, who they knew they would lose soon after birth. The name “Skye” was chosen to symbolize a place where they could always look up and remember their little girl.
On April 30, after just 30 weeks of pregnancy, Millie gave birth to Callie and Skye via emergency C-section. Miraculously, both girls cried at birth—something the doctors hadn’t expected for Skye. The couple had three precious hours with Skye before she passed away in their arms, a moment filled with immense love and unmeasurable heartbreak.
