John Wayne Beef Casserole

Build the Biscuit Base:
Open the biscuit dough and press the pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Overlap slightly as needed to form one uniform layer. This will bake into a tender and slightly crispy crust that supports the layers above.
Add the Layers:
Spoon the beef mixture carefully over the biscuit crust creating an even layer. In a separate bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and one cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Spread this creamy topping over the beef layer, then finish by sprinkling the last cup of cheddar cheese on top.
Bake to Perfection:
Place the casserole in the oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes. You want the cheese on top to be melted, bubbly, and lightly golden. The biscuit crust should be fully cooked and slightly golden on the edges. Remove from oven and let rest for five minutes before cutting. This helps keep the layers together nicely.
