Residents in the area have been urged to stay indoors and avoid the vicinity of the incident, especially as the terrain where Couch is believed to be hiding is described as “very rugged” by Mayor Weddle.
The Kentucky State Police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are involved in the ongoing investigation. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear noted on X (formerly Twitter) that the highway had been closed in both directions at exit 49 and that he was monitoring the situation closely.
