Directions:
Wash and dry apples completely. Remove any wax by dipping them in boiling water for a few seconds, then dry thoroughly. Insert candy apple sticks into the center of each apple.
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Increase heat to medium-high and let the mixture boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the Kool-Aid packet, vanilla extract, and food coloring. Swirl gently for a marbled effect.
Carefully dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, twisting to create a swirl pattern. Let excess drip off, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set.
Allow the apples to harden completely before serving.
