Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Creamy Filling:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened (optional, for shine)

For the Vanilla or White Chocolate Glaze (Optional):

  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, melted and cooled (optional)
