- Take a commercially available lemon, preferably organic, and cut it with a knife in half and remove the seeds.
- Rinse the seeds with clear water to remove the flesh from the seeds. Here the fine sieve is used. Be sure to drop no seeds into your drain hole, they could clog it.
- Use your fingernails to open the seed bark for about half. This important step makes the difference, as it facilitates the penetration of water. New shoots can sprout more easily.
- Use a sharp knife to pierce the bottom of the plastic cup, this prevents water from stagnating at the bottom of the cup.
- Put earth in the cup and leave a few centimeters at the top of the cup. Squeeze the earth with your fingers.
- 6 to 8 of them seeds in the earth.
- Cover the seeds with potting soil to fill the mug, and then water it generously.
- Fold the paper towel into four parts and place it on the potting soil.
- Moist the towel well so that the potting soil always remains damp. This is an essential step to bring the seeds to the germination.
- Pick up the wet paper towel occasionally to see if a seed has germinated.
- Leave the paper towel moist until the offspring has grown a few centimetres.
- When reaching several centimeters, plant them in a larger pot and pour them immediately.
- The larger the shoot, the greater the pot it needs! If the plants have become beautiful and strong, you can replant them in your garden!
